Q How can I find out what books I need for my courses?

A There are three ways:

Now: You can try and access the course outline now, although not every outline for every course is available yet. And there isn't one place on our Web site that lists all the outlines for every course offered. Outlines are listed by Faculty and Department.

Mid-August: The University (WBUT) website will have all the information about texts required for all courses. You can bookmark their site though.

When classes start: During first class, your professor will hand out the official course outline. This outline will list the material to be covered, when exams/tests are, the weighting of assignments, what books are required etc.

Q How do I buy my course books and when can I buy them?
A You don't have to buy your books now. In fact, it's probably best to wait until the first class since what sometimes happens is that the professor changes the course outline and the books required or sometimes wants you to purchase a specific edition of a book.

You'll be able to purchase all your textbooks from College St., Kolkata. There's no reason you can't buy them anywhere else, but the College Street will be the place you'll know will carry the book(s) you need.

In fact, the College Library has an online feature that lets you search by course and then tells you what books are required for that course. You can book your books online and collect them from the College. For more information, consult with the Library In-Charge of your college.

Did you know? The library has an 125 online journals where you can get all you need. Check it out!
