The
Office of Accommodation supports the academic mission of
the JIS Group educational initiatives by providing a well-maintained
residential environment for learning that respects and appreciates
individual differences and promotes a sense of community.
The office maintains a special effort to support women
as they progress through their college years. Residential
Accommodation staff at each accommodation facility foster
leadership, promote understanding of diverse backgrounds
and lifestyles, encourage cooperative decision making and
support activities that allow students to uncover and broaden
their interests. Each student's development is facilitated
through empowering them to solve problems, initiate activities,
and be active in their hall community.
The
Office of Accommodation strives to create an environment
where relationships become strong enough to remain part
of the personal and professional lives of our graduating
students.
Q
I applied to residence already. When
will I find out whether or not I got into residence?
A Residence offers will be going out shortly after the deadline
of the admission. If you haven't received an offer by three
weeks after the deadline of admission, you've probably been
placed on our waiting list. We'll make offers from our waiting
list as rooms become available.
Q What do I do if I don't get into
residence?
A At JIS Group educational initiatives , we offer an Off-Campus Housing
list to help you find accommodation. You can also try the
advertisement of the local cable channels.
Q When do I have to pay for residence?
A Besides the Hostel admission fee Rs. 2500/- at a time
you submitted with your application and Rs. 7500/- deposit
with the acceptance of your residence offer for 3 months,
your student account will be billed for the balance of your
residence fees in August. In the case of BDS Course Hostel admission fee Rs. 5000/- paid once and @ Rs. 3000/- per months to be paid quarterly.
Q Will I be able to contact my room-mate
before moving in to discuss the supplies we're bringing
(e.g. a tape recorder)?
A Yes, Undergraduate Housing will provide the name and phone
number of your room-mate once you have both confirmed your
acceptance of our residence offer by sending in your signed
contract, application fee and paying your residence deposit
(Rs. 10000/-).
Contact Hostel Superintendent of the concerned College.
Q When can I move into residence?
A New students will be notified in advance of their residence
move-in date.
Q I'm an international student and
I don't plan on going home over the holidays. Does College
provide any housing during the holidays or are we allowed
to continue living in our residence room?
A The international students residence contract is in effect
for the full academic terms. During session break you can
stay in your own residence room without making any special
arrangements or paying anything extra. By the way, we don't
call it session break at JIS Group Education Initiatives, we call
it 'study break'.
Any
student that doesn't plan on going home for summer holidays
has to make special arrangements for the summer after prior discussion with institute authorities.
Q What should I bring with me when
moving to residence?
A Your residence room comes furnished with a box bed, chair, table and book shelve.
So don't bring furniture. You don't need any. Cooking is
not permitted in residence spaces, except if you've been
assigned a suite-style room that comes equipped with kitchen
access.
As
well, all rooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access
and telephone service. The cost of these services is included
in your residence fees.
Although
not an exhaustive list, things you should consider bringing
include: clothes (for a variety of seasons and events);
alarm clock; computer; printer; power bar; towels; sheets;

need. There will be plenty of places on campus and nearby
to purchase items you've forgotten.
Q What sizes and kinds of linens,
mattress pad, blankets etc. should I bring?
A Residence beds are single size. Your residence offer package
will give you more information about what you should bring,
